Japan Publishes JAS Standard for Soy-Based Meat Products, Regulating Raw Materials, Protein Content, and Labelling
On 19 May 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of Japan published JAS 0019:2022 "Soy-Based Meat Products," establishing definitions, raw material requirements, production controls, protein content criteria, amino acid score requirements, and labelling rules for soy-based meat products and processed soy-based meat products.
